OUR TEAM

Meet the team ...

Meet the people who make it all happen at the

AeroAdditive department of SFM Technology...

Gary, Rich and John work together along with the rest of our team

to ensure that every project that we get involved in runs smoothly,

on-time and feeds seamlessly into our customer's supply chain.

GARY WILSON

TECHNICAL SALES

Gary started his career in the Fleet Air Arm of the Royal Navy and worked on a verity of both rotary and fixed wing aircraft as a mechanical engineer. After completing twenty-four years’ service with the Royal Navy he retired and joined a major, local helicopter manufacturer.

One of his main roles there was as a 'Helicopter Customer Service Manager and Program Manager' servicing civil and VIP export customers.  This role proved varied and challenging for Gary but he cites it as one of the most valuable learning curves of his career. It meant having to understand and manage large budgets and demanding customers. He then decided to move into a different role within the helicopter company as  a 'Validation Manager '. This again threw up different and exciting challenges for him, one of which was developing aircraft tools and equipment utilising 3D printing...

In 2020 Richard Whittington invited Gary to join SFM Technology to help setup its 3D printing department ... AeroAdditive.

Despite starting during the truly challenging COVID years, AeroAdditive was already working with major engineering companies throughout the UK within months of set up.

Gary is now AeroAdditive's primary customer facing contact for any 3D / Additive enquiries.

RICH PITMAN

OPERATIONS AND FITTING

On a day to day basis Rich is the person manning the fort at AeroAdditive as Gary is often busy out and about seeing customers.

Rich has worked for SFM Technology for over 10 years, but he only joined the AeroAdditive team early in 2023, this was due to the increased workload which necessitated a larger dedicated workforce for the department.

A skilled and experienced engineering fitter, Rich has quickly learned the skills necessary to become a valuable addition to the 3D/Additive Manufacturing team and he has taken over many of the day to day tasks previously carried out by John following his promotion into our purchasing department.

His practical skill-set means that all aspects of our 3D Manufacturing services are conducted in one location and by the  people that really understand each and every project and its individual quirks.

JOHN BOYDELL

BACKGROUND (Ad-Hoc) SUPPORT

Before joining SFM John spent six years working at a stonemasons where he made wooden moulds to be cast in concrete – Essentially he moved straight from working in the oldest 3D manufacturing process to the newest !

John joined SFM in 2021 to help set up the Aeroadditive Department and after 2+ years of working solely within the department he chose to accept a career progression into Purchasing / Buying for the whole of the company.

However, his extensive knowledge and skills in the area of Additive Manufacturing are still regularly applied but now in a support / background role assisting his colleagues.
